The Great Affair honors this wonderful journey we call life.
“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
Travel writer Robert Luis Stevenson’s quote graces my daughter Elya’s world map painting I used for part of the mixed media background. My children and their spouses have truly lived this quote, having traveled to countries across the globe. Their zest to enjoy our world, its people, and each other inspired this painting.
Stevenson’s quote is such an inspirational thought one can apply to many aspects of life…enjoy the process instead of only longing for the destination.
I often find myself missing the here and now in search of some future direction, accomplishment, or purpose. The Great Affair reminds me to enjoy each moment I have breath to breathe. To savor the people God has graced me with, and to boldly embrace those times when He invites me “to move.”
